Mark Bowen, head of football operations at Reading, expressed his delighted at this signing: “Mamadou is a player we identified as a potential loan target early in the window and I am very pleased to now be able to welcome him to Reading.
“A powerful dynamic midfield player with top-flight and international experience on his CV, I am confident he will make a big impact in blue and white hoops in the Championship this season,” Bowen said.
Although his rights belong to Porto, Loum, who is just 25, has come from playing on loan at Alaves, who he made 32 appearances for last season. However, Reading were captivated by his international experience. He plays for Senegal, just like Sadio Mane.
